Covering over two million acres in southeastern New Jersey, the Outer Coastal Plain AVA was established by the federal government in 2006. With a long growing season of two hundred freeze-free days per year and well-drained sandy soils in low hills, this region is among the best grape-growing area on America’s East Coast. Grapes grown here include French-American hybrids and native American grapes. 10Best Wine Expert Marla Cimini remarks, “This region may be under-the-radar, but it’s growing and has a number of award-winning vintages.”
